Cardiff to host official Eurovision finals event

Although the Eurovision Song Contest is taking place in Liverpool, Wales will not miss out as it is to host its own official event. There will be official live events taking place in Cardiff in May 2023, including the screening of the grand final of the contest.

The BBC has announced that Cardiff will be staging official screenings of the international music event’s grand final. Not many details of the event have been released yet but there is set to be two weeks of fun and events, named EuroFest, which will include BBC Storyville Live films.

The Eurovision Song Contestant Grand Final Live Screening will be at DEPOT in Cardiff. There are currently no details about tickets or timings of the event. We will update readers with news and details about the Eurovision events in Cardiff as we receive them.

Other cities that will also have official events are Birmingham, Brighton, Darlington, Leeds, Manchester, Newcastle, Nottingham and Sheffield. Eurovision will take place in May 2023 with the semi-finals airing on Tuesday, May 9 and Thursday, May 11 and the grand final airing on Saturday, May 13. Eurovision minister Stuart Andrew said: “Eurovision is a fantastic opportunity for us to come together through music, and our big screens will create a party atmosphere where no one will sing alone. This competition is not just about Liverpool but making sure we celebrate what unites us and showcasing our steadfast support for Ukraine. We are bringing the Eurovision Song Contest to people’s doorsteps so we can all take part in this historic moment and enjoy the magic of Eurovision as one.”

The semi-finals and final will all be broadcast live on BBC One, with a host of presenters helping to cover the huge event. Irish chat show host and face of Eurovision Graham Norton will be joined by Britain's Got Talent's Alesha Dixon, Ted Lasso and West End star Hannah Waddingham and Ukrainian singer Julia Sanina as the main presenters.
