The opening date for the Ivy Asia, which is set to open in Cardiff city centre, has been pushed back. The restaurant was due to open next door to the current Ivy restaurant on The Hayes in spring of this year, with advertising over the site reading 'Opening spring 2022.'
The Ivy Asia's website also states that the new restaurant would be opening in spring of this year. However, a spokesperson has said that the opening date has been pushed back to the summertime. When the new restaurant opens, the cuisine on offer will be different from that of The Ivy next door.

"Serving theatrical drinks and cocktails alongside a delicious menu of tantalising dishes, the vibrant restaurant will inspire and excite you from the moment you step inside," the website page for the Cardiff branch reads. The Ivy Asia takes inspiration from "a number of Asian cuisines" and their current sites in London and Manchester serve small dishes such as tiger prawns and sushi.
A spokesperson from The Ivy confirmed that the restaurant would be opening in summer of this year, saying: "Troia UK Restaurants Ltd will be opening The Ivy Asia, Cardiff at 45/47 The Hayes, Cardiff, this summer 2022. Following the launch of The Ivy Asia, St Paul’s and The Ivy Asia, Chelsea in London, the Asian-inspired restaurant and bar will be open seven days a week for lunch, dinner and weekend brunch. Serving theatrical drinks and cocktails alongside a delicious menu of tantalising dishes, this vibrant destination will inspire and excite guests from the moment they step inside.
The restaurant will fill the current spots of the former Cath Kidston and Seasalt Cornwall shops and is expected to be a hit following the success of The Ivy which opened in 2019. The Ivy Cardiff first opened in November 2019 and has proved popular with locals and celebrities alike, including John Barrowman and the cast of Netflix's Sex Education.
