A Cardiff-based pizza joint which serves whopping great pizzas by the slice out of city centre bars Kongs and The Underdog has announced its plans to move into a dedicated space in Canton in the coming months.
West Pizza - whose owners Ieuan Harry and Jez Phillips run its sister company in Cardiff Market, Ffwrnes - took to social media on Sunday evening to let their fans know that their 18-inch New York-style pizzas will be available from the newly-built The Laundry Quarter which is soon to open in Pontcanna.
The Laundry Quarter is set to be a collection of spaces to live, eat, shop and meet and will include retailers like Alex Gooch and clothing shop Cwfl among others. Alongside nine retail spaces, there will be 34 homes, including 16 houses and 18 apartments - all of which sold out months ahead of its completion date.
It will be based just off Romily Crescent in the affluent area, which in late 2022 was noted by The Telegraph as one of the UK's coolest neighbourhoods and will be joining a whole host of delicious eateries.
Taking to its Instagram, it wrote: "CANTON WE ARE COMING Fully loaded slice shop coming very soon to Canton and the @laundryquarter We have been on the lookout for the perfect spot for over 3 years and the wait is finally over.
"18 inch New York style pizzas perffaith for families or a cheeky slice with a beer. We can’t wait to be your friendly neighbourhood pizza joint Keep an eye out for progress updates.
"WEST IS BEST."
It followed with the same message in Welsh.
After this exciting news broke, local businesses and bloggers alike flooded the pizza joint's comments with celebratory emojis and words of well wishes.
The Babhaus wrote "Amazing!!", alongside Brother Thai wrote said: "Delicious!"
Ansh burgers added: "Perffeth!" as well as Corner Coffee who simply said: "YAAAAAZZZZZ!!!!!!!!"
Hungry punters of the city also bombarded the comments with messages of excitement, which just goes to show the already established popularity of this delicious business.
It is unknown when The Laundry Quarter and the retail spaces within it will open, but it is hoped that it will be opening in the coming months.
