Here are your Cardiff City transfer headlines for Monday, January 9.
Tanner to York confirmed
Ollie Tanner has joined York City on loan until the end of the season.
Mark Hudson said last Thursday that Cardiff had earmarked a loan stint away for the 20-year-old winger, while WalesOnline later learned that York had won the race for his signature.
And, after featuring in the 2-2 draw with Leeds United at the weekend, the Bluebirds youngster headed north to begin a new challenge in the National League for the second half of the season.

"Yeah, he is now travelling up to go and play for York, which is exactly the plan we had for him from when he came in the building," Hudson said on Sunday when asked if Tanner was heading out on loan.
"It's brilliant for him to get on the pitch [against Leeds] and now he's set up for a really good loan with York. I know David Webb well, he will go and play there and get the amount of minutes he needs to make that next step.
"I look forward to seeing him play and seeing how he gets on."
Explaining the move, York boss Webb said: “We’re delighted to welcome Ollie on loan until the end of the season.
“He is a player I’ve known for a long time and I have followed his progress closely. I know Mark Hudson well, and he gave us a glowing character recommendation to combine with his football talent. I think he will add variety to our attack and is also an exciting player who I’m sure the fans will enjoy watching."
He added: "Ollie is a player I knew from when he was coming through at Arsenal, he has had experience of playing in this league with Bromley and did really well with Lewes last year. He has attracted a lot of attention from big clubs. He turned down a move from Tottenham Hotspur in January.
“The connection has come from Mark Hudson who was my interim manager in our time together at Huddersfield (Town). I spoke to him about his character and his performances because we know he’s a good player and how he has been in training and in the first team and he said that he would be available for loan.
“We asked if can we take him, Mark said yes no problem because he feels as if Ollie is coming into a good environment here because obviously he knows myself. He is a player that gives us attacking variety, he can predominantly play on the left, he can also play as a 10 and he can also play on the right or as a false nine. I’d say anywhere across the front three.”
Eli King quietly returns to the club
Eli King returning to Cardiff City this month seemingly slipped under the radar.
Eagle-eyed supporters on social media spotted King in a training video last week and a screen grab began to circulate online.
It turns out King's half-season loan with Crewe Alexandra has already finished and Mark Hudson revealed the player is now set to be reintroduced to the fold in the coming weeks.
"Kingy is back. He is with us," Hudson said of the Wales youth international.
"It was a natural break on January 1 and they financially couldn't afford to keep him, which is great for us. He has been training for three or four days and has looked really sharp.
"It looks like the loan has helped him in that respect and he is raring to go. But obviously he was cup tied."
King played 15 times for the League Two club, starting 10 times and being introduced off the bench on a further five occasions. He produced one assist during his time there, largely playing as a defensive midfielder.
Bluebirds await McGuinness decision
Mark Hudson admits the transfer embargo under which Cardiff City have been placed could decide whether they are able to recall Mark McGuinness from his loan at Sheffield Wednesday.
WalesOnline understands the Bluebirds want to bring the defender back to Cardiff and have tried to set the wheels in motion for his return this month.
Cardiff hoped McGuinness' final game for the Owls would be the FA Cup third round clash with Newcastle United on Saturday night, a game the Yorkshire club won and the centre-back earned rave reviews. Indeed, ex-Arsenal and England centre-back Martin Keown waxed lyrical about the 22-year-old's display against the high-flying Magpies while on commentary duty.
However, the club have learned in recent days that the transfer embargo, which has been placed on them both by FIFA and the English Football League, will play its part in the McGuinness decision.
Bluebirds boss Hudson said the coming days are crucial with regards to the player's immediate future.
"I think with what's going on at the moment (the embargo), we will see what unfolds over the next couple of days," Hudson said when asked about McGuinness.
"I watched him play [against Newcastle] and thought he was outstanding. I messaged him after to say well done. But we will have to pick that up in the next few days, because it's the weekend.
"But tomorrow (Monday), I will probably have a bit more information."
Asked specifically why there might be an issue, Hudson replied: "It'll be down to the embargo. So we will have to wait and see what we can do with that."
