Hudson's response to Nelson links
Curtis Nelson has been linked with a move to Sheffield Wednesday.
The Sheffield Star claim the Bluebirds centre-back, 29, could be a replacement for Mark McGuinness, whom Cardiff have recalled from his loan stint at Hillsborough, but are awaiting a FIFA technicality to be ironed out before his return is official.
Nelson has been in and out of the side this season, with preferred centre-back pairing Cedric Kipre and Perry Ng striking up a nice partnership at the back.
When Mark Hudson was asked by WalesOnline whether there was anything in the reports linking Nelson to a move to Yorkshire, or simply whether someone had put two and two together and made five, the manager responded bluntly: "Um, you've got your five!"
As things stand, then, there doesn't appear to be anything in that one.
Robinson loses 6kg and is doubt for Wigan clash
Mark Hudson has revealed Callum Robinson has lost six kilograms in weight after contracting flu and tonsillitis.
It means he is a major doubt for the Bluebirds' game with Wigan this weekend, along with a number of other players who were also absent against Leeds United last Sunday.
In a full update on his squad, Hudson said: "Rubin (Colwill) was in that, Gav (Whyte) and Cedric (Kipre), they've been poorly. So it's been sort of a return to play over the last couple of days, really. So yeah, still to be assessed with what amount of minutes they can get tomorrow.
"They're all back in the building. They're all back on the grass as of yesterday. There was a small group yesterday that I took, that was their first session."
Asked specifically about Robinson, Hudson said: "He's available, yeah. Rubin is available. They are all in the building. But they have been poorly, there's been a lot going around and they've missed quite a bit.
"Robbo lost six kilograms since he has been off ill. So there is availability but after again, you have to be mindful that we've got protect them as well. If someone loses that amount of weight over that period of time, you have to protect them as much as you can.
"He's had this flu bug which turned into tonsillitis."
Sheffield Wednesday boss: McGuinness exit 'a blow'
Darren Moore has described Cardiff recalling Mark McGuinness as a "blow" to Sheffield Wednesday following a string of excellent performances for the Owls.
McGuinness won the club's Player of the Month awards for November and December and Cardiff could not ignore his displays and chose to recall him at the earliest opportunity.
Save a FIFA technicality which likely means he will miss tomorrow's game against Wigan, McGuinness is back in the Welsh capital and will play the rest of the season with the Bluebirds.
On his recall, Owls boss Moore said: "Mark McGuinness is back at Cardiff. It's a blow because of how well he did here. I can't give him enough praise and Cardiff too for allowing him to come here and help the team.
"Hopefully he goes back and gets some Championship football because he's certainly ready for it."
Bluebirds looking to add a 'goal threat' this month
Mark Hudson wants to add more "goal threat" to his squad this month after Cardiff City were given the go ahead to start chasing their transfer targets this month.
The club had been subjected to a transfer embargo in this window, owing to the ongoing dispute over paying the first instalment of the Emiliano Sala transfer fee to Nantes.
Cardiff this week paid that money, believed to be around £7m, and the transfer embargoes have been lifted. The EFL's transfer embargo is in two parts, meaning Cardiff are able to trade in this window, however they are only able to bring in loan players and free transfers.
FIFA's criteria for their ban to be lifted has also been satisfied, however Cardiff are still waiting for the official green light before they can get to work, but Hudson said the club have "got the go ahead to explore options" in the market.
"It's a relief, gives people a lift, I would imagine," Hudson said of the embargoes being lifted. "And we can look forward to what we can look at target-wise and see if we can strengthen.
"We've got targets. I'm not going to talk about players at the moment, I think it's unfair on their clubs. So if there's availability and it strengthens us and brings good characters into the building, we'll try and explore that."
