Cardiff City quartet poised to leave on loan as Oxford United and St Johnstone among clubs to benefit

Cardiff City are allowing four of their first-team fringe players to leave on loan for the rest of the season, WalesOnline has learned.

Tom Sang is set for a spell up in Scotland with St Johnstone, a move perhaps in the pipeline following the arrival of Tommy Doyle from Manchester City.

Steve Morison has said he does not see Sang as a right-back and wants to see him operate in midfield, an area of Cardiff's squad which is densely populated at the minute.

Ciaron Brown, the defender who is in the final months of his contract with the club, will also head out, with League One club Oxford United set to be his destination.

Brown was brought into the first-team fray under Mick McCarthy but has seen little football this season since the signing of the impressive Mark McGuinness in the summer.

It looks unlikely Brown will play for the Bluebirds again.

Elsewhere, promising winger Kieron Evans, 20, will join Belfast-based club Linfield.

The Wales youth international has played six first-team games, starting both of Morison's first two matches in charge against Stoke City and QPR, but the club feel he needs a move away to gain some first-team experience.

It is hoped he will get that in the Northern Irish top flight.

Lastly, Keenan Patten is set to head out on loan to Hereford FC in the National League North.

Patten, 20, is yet to make his senior debut for the Bluebirds but has featured in 10 matchday squads.

All deals are subject to final pieces of paperwork being completed.
