Cardiff City are on the verge of signing Everton defender Niels Nkounkou on loan.
The 21-year-old is close to signing for the rest of the season, with the Bluebirds desperate for full-back cover following the awful injury to new signing Jamilu Collins that has ended his campaign.
Joel Bagan is another concern after suffering a head injury against Bristol City last weekend. He is unable to play against Preston this Saturday due to head injury protocols. Nkounkou would need to sign by midday Friday to play on Saturday.
Nkounkou joined Everton on a free transfer from Marseille in July 2020 on a three-year deal He has made seven appearances for Everton, including two in the Premier League. He was sent out on loan to Standard Liege last season, making 25 appearances.
Reports in France suggest the French youth international will sign a new deal with Everton before being immediately loaned out.
