Cardiff City now odds on to sign Aaron Ramsey in what could be sensational Gareth Bale double swoop

Aaron Ramsey is now odds-on to join Cardiff City this summer in what could be a sensational summer for the Bluebirds with Gareth Bale rumours mounting.

Ramsey still has a year left on his Juventus contract but is likely to leave Turin after a lukewarm loan spell with Rangers last season. The 31-year-old still has plenty to offer, as Wales fans will testify to, but he is deemed surplus to requirements with the Old Lady and a summer exit looks increasingly likely.

Claims in Italy state Juventus could tear up his reported £400,000-per-week contract just to get him off their wage books.

The Telegraph reported earlier this month that Ramsey's former club Cardiff have an "outside possibility" of signing the playmaker and claim he is now part of the conversation along with Bale.

Just 10 days ago Ramsey was priced at 2/1 to sign for the Bluebirds, ahead of Rangers (4/1), Everton (6/1), Southampton (12/1), Leeds United (16/1) and Derby County (33/1).

Those prices have now changed, with the Bluebirds odds shortened to 8/13 on for Ramsey to make a remarkable return to the club he started his career at. For reference, the other clubs' odds are now as follows: Rangers (9/2), Everton (8/1), Southampton (16/1), Leeds United (20/1) and Derby County (40/1).

Ramsey has previously refused to rule out a return to his first club, where he rose through the academy ranks before making 22 appearances for the senior team. Back in April 2020, in an Instagram Q&A with fans, Ramsey said of a return to Cardiff: “They helped me become a professional footballer. So, why not? Who knows?”

A double swoop for Ramsey and Bale may sound outlandish but rumours surrounding the pair simply won't go away. Ramsey's international manager, Rob Page, has urged all his players to be getting regular game-time under their belts ahead of the World Cup in November. Ramsey would certainly fall into that category.
