Cardiff City news as Perry Ng says players in 'middle ground' over manager and fans face major Sunderland changes

Here are your Cardiff City headlines for Tuesday, November 1.

Perry Ng's message to fans and 'middle ground' admission

Perry Ng has asked Cardiff fans to stay patient amid the managerial uncertainty but admitted the longer the situation goes on the more it feels the players are in the "middle ground".

Some pundits and fans have questioned whether this period of limbo, with a caretaker manager at the helm in Mark Hudson, is really conducive to success and consistency on the pitch.

Joe Ralls dismissed that notion after the Rotherham United win, insisting the players treated Hudson as they would treat any other manager, but Ng did concede that the longer Cardiff find themselves in this situation, the more destabilising it might be.

When asked what his message to supporters is amid this managerless period, Ng said: "Just stay patient. We've got four big games coming up. Stick with us. Hopefully we will see what happens at the World Cup break.

"We have got a lot of time off. It's interesting. We have got to give everything for the four games and we know then we can relax for a bit.

"Mark has been brilliant. A really positive coach, a good coach, we have put in a few good performances, obviously the two sending offs and the poor decision against Coventry killed us a bit. But other than that we've been playing well, playing a lot quicker going forward, which is what we needed, he's been really good.

"At first it's business at usual, but the longer [not having a permanent manager] goes on, we are all a bit more in the middle ground. But we've just got to take it as it comes. We all respect Huds, he's a great manager and we are all enjoying working with him.

"We have got to stay patient and just see what happens."

Sunderland make major changes for away fans ahead of Cardiff visit

Sunderland have announced some big changes for visiting fans ahead of Cardiff's trip to the north-east this weekend.

The Bluebirds make the long trek up to the Stadium of Light on Saturday, but the Black Cats have announced some changes that Cardiff fans should be aware of prior to the trip.

There will be no coins or vapes permitted at the ground after the club liaised with its supporters' groups last week. Coins which are confiscated will be donated to charity.

In a statement, Sunderland wrote: "The new measures will be in place from this weekend’s home fixture versus Cardiff City and they are in addition to the operational changes made in August, which includes the searching of all away fans upon entering the stadium, increasing stewarding capacity in the North Stand and enhancing the CCTV network.

"Following dialogue with the EFL on Thursday, it is now Club policy that coins and vapes will no longer be permitted in the away section of the North Stand at the Stadium of Light.

"Any visiting supporter found carrying these items will be asked to discard of them prior to entering the stadium, at which point they will be subjected to enhanced security procedures to further reduce the risk of objects entering the stadium which can be used as missiles.

"This information will be clearly communicated to all visiting Clubs in advance and all vapes will be sustainably discarded, with any coins confiscated donated to the away Club’s nominated charity."

Watford boss Bilic praises 'electric' Cardiff

Watford boss Slaven Bilic has heaped praise on Cardiff City and believes their style of football to be "electric".

The Hornets visit Cardiff City Stadium on Wednesday with both teams on the back of victories at the weekend. It was a nice change for Cardiff, who were downtrodden following a string of three straight defeats.

However, Bilic said he has seen enough in the Bluebirds' recent performances for his side to be wary when they travel to south Wales this week.

"I watched a few of their games, I like that team (Cardiff). They have energy, they have quality, they play on the front foot. They play good," said Bilic.

"Yes they lost a few games. But in a couple of them, against Swansea and QPR they had red cards early in the game, then they didn't have chance. But apart from that, they are electric. They are on the front foot, they are good defensively, very solid. A good team.

“It’s important we go there and play our own game. The big thing for our psychology is keeping up this confidence and momentum, and getting to mid-November with as many points as possible. We’ll train today before we travel across to Cardiff, and we’ll be ready to go again.”

Warnock: Pep's kids wanted a photo with me at Cardiff

Neil Warnock has recounted a story about his time as Cardiff manager when Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola's children wanted a photo with the Bluebirds boss after their match in the Premier League.

Man City hammered Cardiff 5-0, but Warnock's reputation clearly preceded him as the Spaniard's kids insisted they would not leave Cardiff City Stadium without a photograph with him.

“I think Pep Guardiola respects me," Warnock told the Happy Hour podcast. "I think when we played them, I went in his office after. I think he was a bit annoyed at the time because his daughters wanted a picture with me and not him!"

It was a heavy defeat for the Bluebirds, but Warnock believes this Man City side, under Guardiola, are the best footballing team he has ever seen.

“His team, at the moment, over the last two years, are the best team I have ever seen in my lifetime. I’ve never seen anything like it," Warnock added.

"I was at Cardiff City, and we played Man City and we were 0-0 after 25 minutes. We were playing really well. I was stood there on a lovely day, a typical football day with a little drizzle. And I’m thinking ‘Wow, we are doing well’.

"And we go in at half-time 3-0 down. I couldn’t even fault the lads, because they were just amazing. They’ve moved football on so much so I really hope they win the Champions League.”

Club's plea for Whitts photos

Cardiff have asked fans to submit photos of themselves with Peter Whittingham for a special tribute in the programme for the memorial match with Aston Villa.

"We're in the process of compiling the tribute programme for this month's Memorial Match for Whitts, and we'd like to give City fans a chance to be involved," they wrote on the club's website.

"We're hoping supporters, many of whom will have met Peter over the years and had photos with the great man, would be willing to share their images with us, for inclusion within the pages of the tribute programme.

"If you have a cherished picture with Whitts, and would like us to include it, please email us at: prog_mail@cardiffcityfc.co.uk. Thank you, Bluebirds!"

Tickets for the match, which takes place on November 29, can be bought here .
