Here's your round-up of all the latest Cardiff City headlines for Monday, October 17.
Hudson fully focused on QPR as derby day looms
Mark Hudson insists Cardiff City are fully focused on Wednesday night's clash with Queens Park Rangers, despite the South Wales derby being just around the corner.
Saturday's disappointing 1-0 defeat at home to Coventry City was Cardiff's first under the interim boss, and dented City's momentum ahead of Sunday's showdown with their bitter rivals.
It also leaves Cardiff down in 18th position, five points above the relegation zone but only four adrift of the play-off places.
A win over the Swans would go a long way to kickstarting their season, and would also help heal some of the wounds inflicted by Swansea's league double, the first in the history of this fixture.
However, Hudson insists all of that will be placed on the backburner, with a trip to Loftus Road the most pressing priority.
“We will focus on QPR first and then think about Swansea,” said Hudson who had previously taken seven points from a possible nine before the defeat to the Sky Blues.
“We now have to look to go and win those games and that’s what we will do.”
Cardiff Women maintain 100 per cent record
Cardiff City maintained their 100 per cent record in the Adran Premier with a 1-0 win over Aberystwyth Town at the Cardiff International Sports Campus on Sunday.
Rhianne Oakley’s first-half strike proved enough to hand the Bluebirds all three points, with City also keeping their sixth clean sheet in as many games.
After the final whistle, head coach Iain Darbyshire told to the club's official website : “It was a really tough game. Fair play to Aberystwyth, they made it very difficult for us, as we expected. We made a lot of chances, didn’t take all of them, but took one to get the goal and that’s what’s important.”
"We’ve been brilliant defensively so far this year. When you have such a strong backline that aren’t conceding any goals, it gives you such a big platform to get a result and they’ve done it again today.”
Goalkeeper Ceryn Chamberlain, who is yet to concede a goal this campaign, added: “It was a tough game, we had to dig in and make sure that we saw the game out with a clean sheet.
"We’re doing really well so far this season, we’ve got great momentum and we’re building on that every week in training and in games. It’s just about concentrating on each game as it comes and doing the job in front of us."
QPR boss in the frame for Wolves job
Wolves are reportedly considering QPR boss Michael Beale as their head coach, the Express & Star has claimed.
The 42-year-old has enjoyed an impressive start to his reign at Loftus with seven wins from 14.
QPR are fourth in the table heading into their home clash with Cardiff City on Wednesday.
Beale is highly-regarded as a coach, having previously worked as assistant to Steven Gerrard at Liverpool and Aston Villa, and was on the radar of the Bluebirds hierarchy when Mick McCarthy was dismissed.
Wolves are not believed to have made contact with Beale or QPR at this stage.
U18s defeated
Cardiff City U18s were defeated by Queens Park Rangers on Saturday afternoon at the Cardiff International Sports Campus.
Cardiff looked set to claim a point when Tanatswa Nyakuhwa’s cancelled out Jabari Christmas' header, only for Lorent Talla to grab a goal directly from a corner to claim the win.
"I thought first half we played really well," boss Steve Jenkins said afterwards . "We moved the ball well, switched it, created problems in the wide areas and went in at 1-1 with a fantastic goal before half-time and I told the players I was really pleased.
"Second half, they came out with the momentum even though we had the goal and to be honest we never really got going in the second half.
"We’ll come back Monday, the boys will have a look at the game and their clips and we’ll prepare as we always do.
"We prepare well and I think it’ll be a tough week but it always is. This is what development football is all about; we learn from every game and I’m sure we’ll have a lot to take into consideration from the second half where we knew we weren’t anywhere near what we can be.’’
