Rubin Colwill will be absent for Cardiff City's clash with Coventry City, while Steve Morison has effectively said Isaac Vassell's Bluebirds career is over after ruling him out for the rest of the season.
Colwill was pulled off the squad list just before kick-off against Millwall at the weekend, being replaced by Eli King among the substitutes.
The 19-year-old playmaker injured his foot on Friday when he volleyed the floor instead of the ball during a training session.
Cardiff thought he would be OK to shake it off, but it was felt he was unable to take the field if called upon and the Bluebirds made a late change to replace him on the bench.
And Morison has said that Colwill will miss the home tie against the Sky Blues on Tuesday, while also claiming the player is struggling for Saturday's game with Blackpool, too.
"Rubin is out," Morison said. "That’s another tick in the box of learning for him.
"He is out but it creates an opportunity for someone else.
"We will take each day as it comes with him, he is still not right for today and I think he will struggle for the weekend as well."

One player who will know all about injuries, of course is Isaac Vassell.
The striker has not featured for the Bluebirds since the FA Cup defeat by Luton Town on August 27, 2019, having suffered with an array of injuries to his upper leg.
Two-and-a-half years later, however, there is no sign of him getting back to playing professional football.
Morison was, at one stage, hopeful that Vassell would re-enter first-team training at the end of January, when the club could assess the player's condition there and then.
The 28-year-old, though, is unlikely to be seen again this season after suffering yet another setback. With his contract up at the end of the season, that is surely Vassell's Bluebirds career over, after just three games and one goal.
"He had a little bit of a setback again when he did come back into training," Morison said of Vassell.
"I don't think we will see him between now and the end of the season."
Fortunately for Cardiff, they now have a bolstered stable of strikers, thanks to the January transfer window, from which to choose.
The likes of Max Watters and James Collins have been unable to break into the squad over the last few games owing to the form of Jordan Hugill, Uche Ikpeazu, Isaak Davies and Mark Harris and it has added competition to the squad.
Morison said his squad looked a little leggy at Millwall and while he kept his cards close to his chest over ringing the changes, the manager is pleased now he has ample options within the squad if he decides to shake things up.
"That's what all the players we've brought in and brought back have done to the group," Morison said of the competition now within the squad.
"I've had the conversations individually with him, they all need to be ready because they are only a game away from playing.
"Rubin being out now opens the door for someone else. He was getting left out, he's come in and now he's not going to be available so that has a knock-on effect.
"It's good, it's good to have competition. Hopefully it'll keep a freshness to the team.
"It's something we have to think about and something we have to look at. We've got more depth and more players at the level who can do the job, so it's definitely something we can look at now going forward."
