Cardi B confirms she’s expecting third child after 'filing for divorce' from husband Offset

Cardi B has announced she is expecting her third child, shortly after reportedly filing for divorce from her husband, Offset, for the second time.

The Bodak Yellow rapper, whose real name is Belcalis Marlenis Almánzar, shared the news on Instagram, posting photos of her growing baby bump in a revealing red dress.

The 31-year-old, already a mother to daughter Kulture and son Wave, hinted at the split from the Migos star in her post and featured her cradling her belly on a rooftop against the backdrop of the NYC skyline.

She captioned the post: “With every ending comes a new beginning! I am so grateful to have shared this season with you, you have brought me more love, more life and most of all renewed my power!

“Reminded me that I can have it all! You’ve reminded me that I never have to choose between life, love, and my passion! I love you so much and can not wait for you to witness what you helped me accomplish, what you pushed me to do!

“It’s so much easier taking life’s twists, turns and test laying down, but you, your brother and your sister have shown me why it’s worth it to push through!”

The news of Cardi B's pregnancy may come as a surprise, as reports claim she recently filed for divorce from Offset after six years of marriage.

Allegedly, she submitted the paperwork last Wednesday, marking her second divorce filing, four years after the initial one. She is said to have hired a divorce lawyer and is seeking primary custody of their children.

An insider told PageSix that the split was not due to recent rumours of Offset cheating, but rather because the couple had "grown apart." The source stated, "They've grown apart. That's what drove her to this decision more than anything else. This is something she wants to do."

According to TMZ, the divorce has been "a long time coming," suggesting that Cardi and Offset had "disconnected from each other."

The decision was described as "not an overnight decision," though neither party has officially confirmed or denied the reports.

Cardi B and Offset began dating in 2017 and secretly married in September of that year. The couple publicly announced their engagement in October, followed by Cardi's first pregnancy reveal during a Saturday Night Live appearance in April 2018.

They welcomed their daughter Kulture in July of that year but by December Cardi announced their separation.

Despite the split, the couple remained close and were seen together at the Grammys. Cardi filed for divorce in 2020 but reconciled with Offset shortly afterward. They later welcomed their son, Wave, in 2021.

Speculation about their relationship has been rampant, especially after Cardi reportedly mentioned in an Instagram live session late last year that she had "been single for a minute now."

Then in May, she opened up about their rollercoaster romance with Rolling Stone, sharing: “The part I love is that we really like each other, like a support system. We’re really both each other’s cheerleader. I don’t really like talking to people. I’m not as social. If I want something from somebody, he’ll be the one that will talk. Because I don’t like asking.

We’re from two different worlds. Sometimes I cannot be … not that I cannot be a wife. It’s just like, my career takes my life. You know what I’m saying? My career comes first, then my kids come second. And then sometimes I don’t realize that I’m putting so many things before my relationship.

“The little things I have to take care of then comes. I sometimes feel like I do probably put my relationship last.”

When asked what she had decided to do about their marriage, she added: “I think it through. We think it through, because we do love each other. It’s not even about love. We’re best friends. It’s not even about ‘How do you leave a partner?’ How do you stop talking to your best friend?”

The Standard has contacted reps for Cardi B and Offset for a comment.
