Metrolink services were suspended after a driver 'took a wrong turn' near IKEA before crashing into a tram. Officers were called out following the crash at 1.37pm today (March 6), near to the Ashton West Metrolink stop in Tameside.
The crash caused damage to the tram involved, but the car was driven away from the scene. A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Police said the car had 'taken a wrong turn before colliding with a tram'.
No arrests were made following the incident, GMP confirmed. Transport for Greater Manchester (TfGM) says a woman 'refused medical assistance' following the crash, while no injuries were reported to police.

Tram services were suspended between Ashton West and Ashton-under-Lyne for around an hour following the crash. A Transport for Greater Manchester spokesperson said: “At 1.37pm today (Monday, March 6) there was a collision between a car and a tram on the approach to the Ashton West Metrolink stop.
"The car involved left the scene before Metrolink technicians arrived, and a woman refused medical assistance at the scene. The tram sustained damage and had been blocking a nearby road junction, but the tram has now been removed as of 2.35pm and normal services will resume, subject to minor delays.”
