Motorist arrested for 'drug-driving' after Fife crash as second driver nicked and man in hospital

A car careered into vehicles at roadworks in Fife before the driver allegedly 'failed a roadside drug test for cocaine'.

In a separate incident nearby another driver was involved in 'a number of collisions' before cops found the driver to be 'impaired'.

Both of the drivers have been arrested following the pair of crashes on Sunday, January 16.

In the first incident, an Audi driver collided with vehicles at roadworks on the B981 near Kirkcaldy at around 12.30pm.

Pictures posted on the Road Policing Scotland Twitter page showed the front of the vehicle completely crushed as a result of the impact of the smash.

Officers say the driver then failed a drug test - with the result showing positive for cocaine.

One man was taken to hospital for treatment and a 29-year-old man was arrested in relation to a road traffic offence.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “We were made aware of a crash involving two vehicles on the B981 near the Chapel Interchange roundabout around 12.30pm on Sunday, 16 January.

“One man was taken to hospital for treatment.

“A 29-year-old man was arrested in relation to a road traffic offence.”

The second crash happened at the A92 Bankhead roundabout between Thornton and Glenrothes (Police Scotland)

In the second incident the driver had a number of collisions before officers say they 'found that the driver was impaired' after finding them at the A92 Bankhead roundabout between Thornton and Glenrothes.

Pictures showed the white vehicle badly smashed after the driver ploughed into a road sign on the street.

Thankfully there were no serious injuries as a result of both crashes.

Road Policing Scotland tweeted: "Fife Road Police attended two crashes today. The Audi collided with vehicles at roadworks and the driver failed a DrugWipe test for cocaine.

"The next car had a number of collisions before officers found the driver to be impaired.

"Both arrested and amazingly no serious injuries."
