A vehicle has burst into flames on a Scots road sparking an emergency response.
Fire crews raced to the A92 at the Forgan Roundabout near Newport-on-Tay, after the alarm was raised at around 2.30pm on Tuesday, August 2. Dramatic images taken at the scene show a vehicle engulfed in flames by the side of the road.
The front bonnet appears to lifted while large flames can be seen shooting out of the windows. Plumes of black smoke can be seen billowing up into the sky.
An alert from Traffic Scotland confirmed emergency services were scrambled to the scene before officers closed the southbound carriageway. Drivers are advised to take care on approach and find an alternative route if possible.
It's not believed anyone has been injured as a result of the blaze. A Tweet from Traffic Scotland at 2.49pm said: "A92 Forgan Roundabout. Reports of a vehicle fire. Police and emergency services are en-route."
At 3.15pm, they added: "The southbound carriageway is now closed due to vehicle fire. Police and emergency services are in attendance."
A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: “We were alerted at 2.30pm on Tuesday, August 2 to reports of a vehicle on fire on the A92, near Newport-on-Tay.
"Operations Control mobilised two appliances to the scene to extinguish the fire and make the area safe. There were no reported casualties."
A spokesperson for Police Scotland said: "Officers were made aware of reports of a vehicle on fire near the Forgan roundabout, Newport on Tay at around 2.50pm. However, there was no requirement for further police involvement."
