NEW DELHI: Celebrating India's impressive triumph over England in the fifth Test and securing a 4-1 series victory, former captain Sachin Tendulkar commended the team's resilient comeback after the initial loss in the first match.
Tendulkar highlighted the players' ability to capitalise on every opportunity presented by the visitors. The decisive victory in the final Test at Dharamsala, where India won by an innings and 64 runs in less than three days, showcased the team's dominance.
"Despite losing the first Test, #TeamIndia bounced back impressively to clinch the series with a comfortable 4-1 scoreline. Throughout the series, the team has capitalised on every opportunity presented to them. @imkuldeep18 and @ashwinravi99's outstanding performances were instrumental in this commanding win over England at Dharamsala. #INDvENG," Tendulkar wrote on X.
In the fifth Test, England won the toss but struggled in their first innings, being dismissed for 218. The Indian bowlers dominated, with Kuldeep Yadav (5/72) and Ravichandran Ashwin (4/51) leading the charge.
India responded strongly with a first-innings total of 477, giving England a substantial deficit of 259 runs as they began their second innings. Despite Joe Root's valiant effort (84 runs in 128 balls with 12 fours), lack of support from the rest of the batting order proved detrimental.
While Jonny Bairstow (39 runs in 31 balls with three fours and three sixes) and Tom Hartley (20 runs in 24 balls with four boundaries) contributed, England was eventually bowled out for 195.
Ravichandran Ashwin once again shone with the ball, claiming 5/77. Kuldeep Yadav and Jasprit Bumrah took two wickets each, while Ravindra Jadeja secured one. With this result, India clinched the series 4-1.
