Fortunately, Capcom's Kenichi Hashimoto recently spoke about the future of the Ace Attorney series. He was asked about where there were any truths to fans' belief that buying merchandise for Ace Attorney would encourage work on a new game, according to VG247.
Hashimoto firmly confirmed that this is true, saying that support from passionate fans is something that developers and the company as a whole recognize. However, he noted that profits from goods do not directly become the development budget for new games.
He noted that it instead leads into discussions about how they could proceed going forth with the popularity of the series.
Hashimoto also talked about what fans of the series could expect moving forward, noting that they do not yet have a set direction that they plan on taking.
Hashimoto's remarks also come after Capcom revealed plans to showcase a "special Ace Attorney series introduction video for fans and newcomers." Many fans speculate that the studio could be teasing more, Nintendo Life said.
Work on the Popular Series
The Ace Attorney series is one of Capcom's most influential franchises. It has a series of visual novel adventure games. They mostly focus on a player's detective and observation skills.
The intellectual property has branched out to other forms of media aside from video games over the years. It has even delved into comic books, stage productions, and a live-action movie. Hashimoto's latest remarks come after similar statements he gave earlier this year.
He said that Capcom specifically wants to develop the Gyakuten Keni also known as the Ace Attorney Investigations spin-off in various ways.
This would include the lens of mixed media. He also noted that the studio wants the Ace Attorney franchise to reach its 25th and 30th anniversaries, according to Game Rant.
