Canelo vs GGG 3 purse: Prize money for super middleweight world title fight

Canelo Alvarez will take home a bigger chunk of the purse than Gennady Golovkin for their Las Vegas trilogy fight.

The pair face off for the Mexican’s super middleweight world titles tonight having fought to a dramatic draw in 2017 before Canelo took a tight victory a year later.

Now, they reunite with the 32-year-old reportedly guaranteed to bank £7m as a base pay rate plus around £47.5m as a PPV bonus.

That is compared to a £7m base rate for Golovkin and £30m in PPV bonuss despite the middleweight champion winning his last four fights, unlike Canelo who dropped his light heavyweight clash with Dmitry Bivol earlier this year.

Canelo has taunted his rival over the purse involved in the fight, claiming Golovkin only wanted to end their four-year wait for a third fight due to the money involved.

“I was busy fighting with the best fighters out there,” said Canelo.

“That’s why [it took four years for the third fight]. Of course [he’s waited around and not done anything but wait for me].

“He wants his last payday. Look at my fights after GGG, and look at his fights. He’s not talking s*** anymore because he has me in front of him now. Call the lion when you see he’s coming – and I’m coming.”
