NAGPUR: For the first time in 74 years since the Candidates chess tournament was first played in Budapest in 1950, the event will feature a rare mix of youngsters and battle-hardened pros over the next 20 days at the Great Hall in Toronto, Canada.
World No. 1 Magnus Carlsen has come up with his analysis of the contenders in the Open category. He feels that either the second- or third-ranked American Grandmasters, Fabiano Caruana and Hikaru Nakamura, will clinch the title. He says Indian teen sensation Praggnanandhaa Rameshbabu will do well and Russian GM Ian Nepomniachtchi will be a top contender.
