Defeats in the 11th round proved costly perhaps too costly for both Vidit Gujrathi and R Praggnanandhaa. Vidit and Pragg lost to Ian Nepomniachtchi and Hikaru Nakamura respectively in the Candidates chess tournament at the Great Hall in Toronto, Canada, on Wednesday. It was probably a case of nerves failing them as the stage gets tougher both mentally and physically going onto the third week of a long 14-round event.
With six of the eight candidates remaining in fray for the top position paired up, the 11th round became a crucial affair and three decisive results made it even more gripping.
