Do you receive Canada Pension Plan (CPP) or Old Age Security (OAS), including the Guaranteed Income Supplement (GIS)? If your answer is yes, then your next government payment is coming tomorrow, September 25, 2026. Service Canada will issue the September 2026 payments on Friday, September 25. The Canada Pension Plan (CPP) provides a taxable monthly retirement benefit to eligible Canadians. It replaces part of your income after retirement and continues for the rest of your life once you start receiving it. CPP also provides benefits to people with disabilities who meet the eligibility requirements. Eligible survivors of CPP contributors can also receive survivor benefits.
You can start your CPP retirement pension at age 60, although starting before 65 means receiving a reduced monthly amount. The standard age to start CPP is 65, while you can delay it until age 70 to receive a higher monthly payment. If you continue working while receiving CPP, your retirement pension is not reduced. If you are under 70 and continue working, you may also qualify for additional Post-Retirement Benefits.
