A day after completing the loan move from former champions and league winners Mumbai City FC to be a part of the Kalinga Warriors for the upcoming Indian Super League (ISL) season, Raynier Fernandez took to social media to share his happiness.
Expressing his feelings upon joining the Juggernauts squad, the central midfielder said in a video message posted by the official twitter account of Odisha FC, “I am so excited and so happy to be a part of Odisha FC. I just cannot wait to start training and make some good memories with this amazing club.
“I have received so, so many messages from the fans and so much of love from the fans. I just cannot wait to interact with them. Come on guys, Ama Team Ama Game,” the 26-year-old signed off with the official tagline and battle cry of the Bhubaneswar-based side.
Head coach Josep Gombau, too, was delighted with the latest inclusion to the squad. Sharing his thoughts after the announcement of the newest recruit, the Spanish gaffer welcomed the Mumbaikar to the Juggernauts, saying, “I am so happy that he joins the team. Raynier is someone I believe can bring a lot of experience in our midfield lines.”
“We needed a player like him in our squad who has a lot of game time in the Indian Super League (ISL). I think he can do a very good job for us,” the former Barcelona youth team coach added. Gombau concluded by saying, “Raynier is a player who fits perfectly into the system and the way we want to play. I want to wish him the best and a very successful season here with us.”
It will be worth watching how Raynier fits into the Odisha squad and midfield to help the Juggernauts improve their league standing this season.
