King Charles is preparing for the Coronation and it appears a big change is being made to Camilla's title.
Camilla appears set to be known simply as the Queen for Charles’ Coronation after the word consort was dropped for a new edition of the bible.
There has been speculation that Camilla will gradually become known as just the Queen and that seems to have been confirmed as that is how she is described in the Coronation edition of the bible.
The name Queen Consort is given to the spouse of a king rather than the Queen Regnant who is the female monarch.
Now the new edition of the bible has been released ahead of the Coronation and clearly just states Camilla as “Queen”.
It says: “To commemorate the Coronation of their majesties King Charles lll and Queen Camilla. In the Abbey Church of St Peter. Westminster. The sixth day of May 2023.”
Following Charles’ accession to the throne there have been many changes to royal titles including the naming of Camilla as Queen Consort.
It had been previously thought she would be known as the Princess Consort upon her husband's accession.
But a statement by the late Elizabeth II before her death saw her give her blessing for Camilla to be known as the Queen Consort.
And since then there have also been reports suggesting that this title would be tweaked slightly by Buckingham Palace after the Coronation in two months time to simply Queen.
But that appears to have already happened - even though in the Court Circular, the official register of royal engagements, she is recorded as Queen Consort.
There was also a hint last month that she would be known simply as the Queen when she held a reception to celebrate her Reading Room project.
At the reception, she revealed the project, which started on Instagram, was becoming a charity called The Queen's Reading Room - with the word Consort dropped.
And a source told the Mail On Sunday : "There’s a view in the Palace that Queen Consort is cumbersome and it might be simpler for Camilla to be known just as the Queen when the time is right.
"The Reading Room was a sign of that. Her Majesty is the Queen after all."
Referring to Camilla as the Queen has been described as a sign of the transformation of the nation's affection towards her.
When she married Charles in 2005, it was the general thought she would never be called Queen when Charles eventually came to the throne.
