Fans spending half the gig livestreaming their own reactions? I sat behind it during the whole of Billie Eilish’s O2 Arena spectacular and it was hateful. People throwing miscellaneous objects at artists, from their mobiles to a bag of ashes? A couple of years ago, it almost became a trend.
Even at the narrow end of the issue, we’ve had to invent tiny phone prisons to literally lock away people’s devices so they watch the show in real time instead of through their screens.
