Cameron Norrie's Wimbledon dreams are over after falling at the semi final hurdle at the hands of Novak Djokovic
The world number one will face Nick Kyrgios in the men's final at Wimbledon after coming from behind to dash the hopes of Cameron Norrie on Centre Court. The South African born Brit - whose dad is from Glasgow - reached his first ever grand slam semi final but misses out on Sunday's grand finale.
The 26-year-old met the world number one on centre court on Friday afternoon in his first ever grand slam semi final. Despite being the underdog, Norrie had the perfect start, breaking to win the first set 6-2 after 31 minutes of play. However, the top seed came from a set down to secure his spot in Sunday's showpiece. It is yet another Wimbledon victory for Djokovic, who has not been beaten at Wimbledon since losing in the quarter-finals in 2017.
Cameron Norrie thrilled the centre court by breaking to take the first set 3-6. But the defending champions went on to win the next three 6-3, 6-2, 6-4 to reach his 32nd grand slam final.
The 2hour and 34 minute match was not short of action with Djokovic himself admitting Norrie was the better player to start with. However, that didn't stop the star from putting on show as the match progressed.
Looking ahead to Sunday's grand finale, Djokovic and fellow finalist Kygrios will be pleased to know that, win or lose, they will leave SW19 at least £1.05million richer. Runners up take home a prize of just over a million, with the winner securing £2million along with the trophy and a spot in tennis history.
