It's the end of the road for Wimbledon Grand Slam hopeful Cameron Norrie after he was defeated by Novak Djokovic in the semi-finals. The defending champion won 3-6, 6-3, 6-2, 6-4, with Newcastle United fan Norrie taking the first set.
Norrie thrilled the Centre Court crowd in the first set with Djokovic struggling to find his groove, but the Serbian came back into the tie and finished the match strongly to set up a tie with Nick Kyrgios in Sunday’s final. The Magpies supporter has been one of the standout and surprise packages of the tournament.
Newcastle United co-owner Mehrdad Ghodoussi has already invited the British seeded tennis player to St. James' Park next season to take in a game after being impressed by his performances. Norrie was the last remaining Brit in the singles competition after Andy Murray and Emma Raducanu were both dumped out in the second round.
