USA boss Anthony Hudson has moved to explain the absence of Cameron Carter-Vickers from his squad.
The defender has been a mainstay at the heart of the Scottish champions defence this term and and scored in Ange Postecoglou 's comprehensive 3-0 Scottish Cup quarter-final win over Hearts last Saturday, but has not been called up for the national side despite impressing at the World Cup in Qatar. He will miss the CONCACAF Nations League double header against Grenada and El Salvador, where he would have hoped to catch the eye of new boss Hudson.
The US international side roster update put the absence of the centre-back down to a "knee" injury, sparking concerns that he could be missing for this Celtic's clash with Hibs on Saturday. However, Hudson has tempered the absence by admitting a decision was reached with the club's of his missing players to ensure they maintain their current levels of fitness - rather than dealing with a major knock.
Speaking after the squad was announced, Hudson said: "There are a number of guys who are dealing with varying degrees of injury issues. We’ve spoken with the clubs, and in each case we have worked together to make a decision in the best interest of the player and to do our best to ensure they are available for us this summer."
Rangers loanee Malik Tillman also didn't make the squad. The playmaker has been out of action since the Viaplay Cup final defeat at Hampden.
