Camden sex offender jailed after horror rape attack on female victim

A Camden rapist who attacked a vulnerable woman has been jailed for six years and seven months.

Wood Green Crown Court heard how Victor Adegbesan, 34, subjected the woman to a terrifying ordeal on July 22, 2021.

The victim called 999 after the rape and detectives began an investigation to catch Adegbesan, of Inverness Street, Camden Town.

The team worked around-the-clock to gather evidence and secured a charge the next day, keeping the attacker in custody until a trial could begin.

After extensive interviews with the victim and obtaining detailed medical records to show the extent of the abuse, Met detectives said they were able to build a watertight case against Adegbesan.

Met Detective Constable Max Orange, who led the investigation in Camden, said: “I commend the bravery of the victim-survivor for coming forward and reporting this abhorrent crime.

“The Met takes its responsibility to protect women and girls incredibly seriously. I am proud we secured justice for the victim-survivor putting one more dangerous predator behind bars.

“We urge anyone who has been a victim of abuse – no matter how long ago – to please come forward to police and get the support you rightly deserve.”

Adegbesan was previously found guilty of two counts of rape after a trial at the same court on Friday, 3 May.

He was sentenced on Friday, July 26.
