Rangers would demand a fee in excess of £25m for star man Calvin Bassey - according to a report.
The defender is wanted by Aston Villa who have splashed out more than £70m on Diego Carlos, Philipe Coutinho and Boubacar Kamara.
The 22-year-old could reunite with Steven Gerrard - who brought Bassey to Ibrox from Leicster during his time in charge of the Govan outfit.
Sky Sports claim Bassey would be "open" to discussing a move with Villa, however, he is not agitating for an exit.
After an incredible breakout season in Glasgow, he has hugely impressed both domestically and in Europe.
Bassey was forced to be patient when waiting for his chance at Ibrox after arriving in the summer of 2020 but it has been worth the wait.
And the same report suggests Gio van Bronckhorst 's side are hell–bent on keeping their breakout star but it would take a blockbuster offer to come round the table.
That would likely exceed the £25m fee that saw Kieran Tierney vacate Celtic for Arsenal back in 2019.
A number English Premier League and Bundesliga clubs are understood to be also chasing the Nigeria international.
However, Gerrard's side appear in pole position to strike.
