Callum Hudson-Odoi has revealed who is in control of activating the recall clause in his one-year loan at Bayer Leverkusen.
The winger is currently with his German club in order to get game-time under his belt after falling out of favour under Thomas Tuchel at Stamford Bridge and is now playing as consistently as he ever did in London.
The move was sanctioned by owner Todd Boehly this summer with both parties agreeing that first team football was necessary in order to help the 21-year-old reach his full-potential. Boehly was determined not to let Hudson-Odoi leave permanently though, convinced that the former youth star had a future at the club.

Having been one of the early success stories under Tuchel, Hudson-Odoi was quickly left in a state of limbo with sporadic minutes from the bench, cup game appearances and, more often than not, being moved to play as a wingback rather than a favoured attacking role.
Although injuries curtailed last season, with Chelsea bringing in Raheem Sterling and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and being unable to offload Christian Pulisic or Hakim Ziyech, the 21-year-old hadn't moved forward in the pecking order and Chelsea's pursuit of Anthony Gordon put him in place.
Now, after making an decent start to life in Germany, Hudson-Odoi has revealed his goals and the reason behind moving away from his boyhood club, saying: "Coming out here my aim was to get as many games as possible and build on the fitness that I haven't really had in the last couple of seasons for Chelsea."
Speaking to Sky Sports, he added: "Game wise I have been playing a lot here and I'm really enjoying it and every moment here, trying to help the team as much as possible, scoring goals and assisting goals, just doing whatever even it's not scoring or assisting, just being influential in the team.
"I'm definitely enjoying my football at the moment and it was the right time in my career to come here."
When asked if he could issue an update on his recall clause, which is more likely to be used under new manager Graham Potter as the winger was a target for the former Brighton boss during his time on the south coast, Hudson-Odoi laughed, saying: "I can't really say because it's not up to me, I can only do what I can do now for the club and push myself to the max for the club here and give everything I can.
"We don't know what will happen to the team in January or from now until the end of the season, we just wait and see but right now I'm focused on playing as much football as possible and trying to help the team."
Hudson-Odoi will have 12 more chances to play before the mid-season break for the winter World Cup in Qatar, a tournament he is extremely unlikely to be at. However, the break may allow him to speak to the new head coach at Cobham to sound out what may lay ahead for him.
