Callum Hudson-Odoi drops big Chelsea injury return hint ahead of Wolves clash after struggles

This season may have been one of frustration for Chelsea forward Callum Hudson-Odoi. The Cobham academy graduate had been working hard to get himself into Thomas Tuchel ’s plans, making 28 appearances across all competitions.

However, he was then struck with an Achilles problem that has continued to linger for longer than expected. The academy graduate has missed 14 games in total since picking up the problem back in March, something that isn’t ideal for his progression and continuity.

Only a few weeks ago did Tuchel reveal that he couldn’t put a timescale on his return, saying ahead of the Arsenal clash: “It’s day by day, still not possible to join team training.”

When he does make his return, questions over his best position under the German coach may spring up again. While he has often been touted as a forward, playing as one of two playmakers behind the striker, he has also played at wing-back during the season.

His minutes will likely be managed carefully, as to not further hamper his ability to play as well as ending the season strongly to give him the best possible pre-season. However, the youngster may have hinted at a return soon.

Taking to Twitter, he posted a picture of himself in training with two battery emojis. Whether that would put him in contention for Wolves at the weekend remains to be seen, given the length of his injury, but it could hint at his return.

With an FA Cup final later this month and Champions League qualification up for grabs, it could be an ideal time to add Hudson-Odoi into an attack that has largely struggled this season. More importantly, getting him back to fitness to be able to keep progressing may be the priority.
