Calls for gambling ad bans on Australian match-day jerseys after action from world’s biggest football clubs

Anti-gambling advocates and the independent senator David Pocock have called for gambling advertisements to be banned from match-day jerseys after action from some of the biggest football clubs in the world.

UK Premier League clubs have agreed to ban match-day front-of-shirt sponsorship deals with gambling companies from the summer of 2026. The move has prompted mixed reactions, with some viewing it as a compromise that may allow other gambling ads to continue.
