Call The Midwife's Helen George addresses series finale 'problems' as fans hit out at BBC delay

Helen George has a three word verdict on the Call The Midwife series finale, hinting there could be 'problems' for her character Trixie Franklin, as fans continue to complain about the fact it's been pushed ack a week by the BBC.

Helen has been right at the centre of the drama on the long-running drama, since Trixie made a return to Poplar in the Christmas special, with the ending of the seasonal episode seeing Matthew propose to her. Since then the couple have had to deal with being separated, after the maternity ward was put into lockdown due to an E-coli outbreak and the heartache of Matthews dad dying during a visit to see them.

Trixoe and Matthew's wedding is set to be he main attraction of the last episode of Call The Midwife's 12th series, with popular actress Helen causing some concern by hinting that things don't run smoothly for the couple's nuptials. And fans will have to wait longer than expected to find out just what Trixie and Matthew's wedding day has in store for them as the series finale won't be on this Sunday, February 19, having been shelved for this year's BAFTA film awards.

The scheduling move by the BBC did not go down well when it was announced last weekend that the episode will now go out a week later on February 26, with many viewers suggesting that, given Call The Midwife's popularity, the BAFTAs could have been switched to BBC2 or Call The Midwife shown earlier or on Monday.

And, while not being drawn into the complaints about the delay, Helen did give a brief teaser for the finale when she took part in a Instagram Q&A on Thursday, alongside Olly Rix, who plays Matthew.

When asked what three words she'd use to sum up the highly anticipated episode, Helen replied: "Profound, romantic and community.”

Addressing the 'problems' Trixie and Matthew look set to face on their way to the altar, Helen added: "There’s photographic evidence out there that they get hitched and you know, there are a few teething problems along the way.

“There’s a lot of fun to be had with that. We saw the last clip of the show but not the show in its entirety."
