Activision has confirmed the release date of Season 01 Reloaded for Call of Duty: Black Ops 7, delivering a teaser for the maps to be added to the Multiplayer mode.
Also being delivered, at least on Battle.net, it seems, is a preload for the big update. Notice how the word big there is in bold?
That's because, like the writer of this post that has spent the Christmas period eating far too much, said preload is very hefty. Popular Call of Duty content creator, MrDalekJD, gave us a look at his own preload.
Black Ops 7 Season 1 Reloaded Pre-Load is LIVE on BattleNet - its a 175GB download😳 pic.twitter.com/2gZbqyWxTDJanuary 6, 2026
The caveat, of course, is that yours may not be so chonky. If you don't have every game mode installed, for example, then you probably won't be seeing the same gargantuan download trying to come down your internet pipe.
But that preload is essentially redownloading the entire game again. On my PC (via the Xbox app), with everything installed, plus Warzone, the installation size is just shy of 170GB.
Anywho, aside from the fact it looks like we're downloading the whole game again this week, what can we expect? Well there's the three Multiplayer maps shown off above. Yakei is new, Meltdown is an old favorite being remastered, and Fringe is coming back from Black Ops 7.
We also know that there's a crossover event coming focused on the Fallout TV show, bringing two giant Microsoft-owned properties together. Perhaps worse, because it's the Fallout TV show, which I adore, it'll make me break my rule for this year on buying operator skins.
We're also expecting a couple of additional weapons being added to the pool, as well as the arrival of Directed Mode for the second Zombies map, Astra Malorum.
A full blog post and patch notes are promised for January 7, so we'll soon have the full picture.
