California Man Arrested at Capitol After Hauling Guillotine Across Country in Pickup

A California man was arrested a few hundred feet from the US Capitol on Tuesday after police discovered a fully assembled guillotine standing upright in the bed of his pickup truck.

United States Capitol Police say 35-year-old Philan-Tam-Duy Le of Julian, California, had driven more than 2,500 miles across the country before his illegally parked truck drew officers' attention on East Capitol Street on 25 August 2026.
