California Attorney General Rob Bonta is facing renewed scrutiny over a staggering $468,228 (£346,430) campaign-funded legal bill that emerged after federal investigators raided major political donors who had given his campaigns more than $155,000 (£114,680).
The spending has fuelled questions over why California's top prosecutor needed such an expensive legal team while assisting an FBI investigation into an alleged Oakland corruption scheme, even though Bonta has not been charged and says he was cooperating as a witness.
