It’s easy to understand Caleb Williams’ reaction after getting selected No. 1 overall.
A year after winning the Heisman Trophy, the USC quarterback went through a full season of hearing his name tossed around as the potential top pick. Then he had to go through it again as the Chicago Bears debated whether or not to stick with Justin Fields or start over with a rookie leading the offense.
Once that decision was made, Williams had to endure even more agony — waiting weeks until draft night when the Bears could make the inevitable official.
After all of that, watching Williams roar as he walked across the stage in Detroit was something fans will never forget. You could feel all the raw emotion, all the relief and all the excitement at this moment finally arriving.
