Furniture thrown out of Ceasars palace window as police respond to hostage situation

Las Vegas police have revealed what led up to Tuesday’s dramatic hostage situation in the famous Caesars Palace hotel.

Las Vegas Police Captain Stephen Connell told reporters that the standoff began at about 9.15am when hotel security reported an argument between a man and woman. The man then pulled the woman into a room “by force” and took her hostage.

The man, who claimed he was armed, spent the morning then throwing large objects out of the window of his hotel room, sending guests on the pool deck running for cover. Bystander video showed broken glass and debris littering various decks at the Caesars.

A standoff ensued before a SWAT team was able to arrest the man and rescue the female hostage.

The woman was apparently unharmed in the incident.

Police have not said whether any guns were found at the scene of the standoff.

The incident briefly triggered worries there could be another mass shooting on the Strip, after a gunman killed 58 people from his Vegas hotel room in 2017.
