Caedrel joins Max Verstappen for 100-driver karting challenge at Silverstone

League of Legends streamer and former pro Caedrel is set to trade Summoner’s Rift for the race track, as he joins four-time F1 champion Max Verstappen for the unique Max vs 100 karting challenge at the Silverstone circuit.

Verstappen will take on 100 drivers in a race designed to test whether the four-time Formula One World Champion can fight his way through the entire field. The event will take place on Sept.16 at Silverstone, England and will be live on Disney+ and the ESPN App. There will be no spectators allowed at the circuit.

Caedrel is among a star-studded group of 100 drivers who will line up against Verstappen for the unusual karting challenge. The field also includes streamer TheGrefg, TheDonato, ultrarunner Arda Saatçi, basketball shooting specialist Chris “Lethal Shooter” Matthews, and freestyle mountain biker Matt Jones.

Rather than starting alongside a handful of competitors as he does in F1, Verstappen will have all 100 drivers between himself and the finish line. His objective is simple: get through the pack and reach the front before the race ends. Unlike F1, Verstappen can communicate directly with his fellow drivers during the race, giving fans a rare insight into the strategy and chaos unfolding on track.

For Caedrel, the event represents a very different kind of competition from the League of Legends broadcasts and esports events. The former LEC player has built a huge following through his analysis and entertaining streams, but this time his challenge will involve finding speed on four wheels without crashing.

The race is being held on a purpose-built karting circuit at Silverstone, with all 101 drivers taking to the track at the same time. Race Director and French racing driver David Terrien designed the circuit specifically for the event.

With 100 karts on the circuit, navigating traffic, picking the right moments to overtake, and finding openings will be crucial, making racecraft just as important as raw pace. Two-time iRacing World Champion Sebastian Job has already tested the circuit and warned that Verstappen will have his work cut out for him.

The sheer number of drivers means Caedrel and the rest of the field will have one major advantage: traffic. Verstappen may be one of the best racing drivers in the world, but passing 100 karts in a single race is an entirely different challenge.

Max vs 100 also takes Verstappen back to the discipline where his racing career began. The Dutchman first drove a go-kart at four years old and was already competing in championships by the age of seven. Karting helped Verstappen develop the starts, overtaking skills and racecraft that would eventually take him to Formula One.

Despite spending more than a decade competing at the highest level of single-seater racing, Verstappen is clearly excited to get back behind the wheel of a kart.

“I’ve done so many years in go-karting that you quite naturally get back into things,” Verstappen said to Redbull. However, the F1 champion is not expecting a quiet return to his roots. With 100 competitors directly in front of him, Verstappen admitted that he is looking forward to seeing the “carnage unfold” during the challenge.

With Caedrel among the 100 drivers standing between Verstappen and victory, Max vs 100 promises to be a very different test for the F1 champion. Whether the streamer can help hold off Verstappen, or simply survive the chaos, will be revealed when the karts hit Silverstone.
