CAB celebrates audit achievement

The Citizens Advice Bureau West Lothian has recently been the subject of a rigorous audit of their services and passed with flying colours.

The successful appraisal by the by the Scottish Legal Aid Board makes them one of the very few accredited information and advice providers in the West Lothian area.

The National Standards Audit examined in great detail the processes and procedures involved in providing quality advice and information to people within the community.

Chief executive, Karen Nailen, said: “This is a significant achievement for the staff and volunteers of the Bureau and is confirmation of the fact that we continue to provide the highest quality of advice to our clients.

“Clients can take comfort that when contacting the bureau they will receive excellent advice services”

The Bureau offers a free impartial and confidential advice service to residents of West Lothian and can help with consumer issues, benefits, debt, employment, housing, relationships, tax, legal issues and utilities.

CAB can also help with applying for Universal Credit.

Help to Claim is a dedicated service from Citizens Advice. It’s free, independent and confidential. Call 0800 023 2581 (Scotland) 8am to 6pm, Monday to Friday.

You can also chat to an adviser online at cas.org.uk/helptoclaim (Available 8am to 6pm, Monday to Friday) with Universal Credit application.

Every year, dedicated advisers help thousands of people get the help they’re entitled to.

Karen continued: “What we can help with finding out if you’re eligible for payments, filling in your application, preparing you for your first JobCentre appointment and checking if your first payment is correct.”

You can apply for Universal Credit online, or in some special circumstances, over the phone or from home.

What you’ll need details of your housing, income and savings, childcare situation and any other benefits you might be getting.
