Lyndyann Barrass has been in touch with Dec Donnelly over the possibility of returning to the show as Spuggy, but has refused to divulge exactly what he said in a text message to her.
Sunderland's Lyndyann became one of the most recognisable faces on children's TV in the early 90s, thanks to playing red headed icon Kirsty Campbell, better known to her fellow Grovers and BBC viewers at home as Spuggy. She stayed on the show for a number of years but, while seeing some of her Byker Grove co-stars, including Ant and Dec and others like Jill Halfpenny and Donna Air go onto further TV stardom, Lyndyann has largely stayed away from the spotlight.
She has performed in a number of amateur dramatic productions, like Annie Get Your Gun and has been on television in recent years in a countdown of Britain's best kids TV shows and a child star special of Pointless Celebrities, but now makes her money in a very different world, as boss of a cleaning company.

Lyndyann had no idea that Byker Grove was coming back, with her being just as shocked by the news as everyone else, when her son text her to break the news of its return, before she was flooded from messages and social media tags from plenty of others.
The now 47-year-old says she would 'jump' at the chance to go back on Byker Grove as a grown up Spuggy and revealed to Mail Online that she has actually spoken to Dec about the prospect of returning. On the text exchange between herself and her ex co-star, Lyndyann commented: "I texted Dec and said to him "Don't forget your old mates. He replied but I can't say what he said to me, that will have to be our secret!"
