Australians can buy a bear or a badge to support the families of veterans during Legacy Week, which starts on Sunday, August 30.
The chiefs of the army, navy, air force and Defence Force have come together to promote the important cause, photographed with the fundraising bears that will be for sale during the week.
Legacy Week is an annual national appeal to raise awareness and funds for the partners and children of veterans who have given their life or health in service to their country.
Funds raised during Legacy Week will assist an estimated 25,000 widows, widowers and families across Australia, providing essential services including counselling, medical, advocacy and social support.
"Little Badge, Big Impact" continues to be the theme for Legacy Week, highlighting how a simple act of support can make a meaningful difference in the lives of veterans' families.
Chief of the Australian Defence Force Admiral Mark Hammond urged everyone to buy a badge or bear.
"Life in the ADF can be incredibly rewarding, but the cost of service is shared by the families of our sailors, soldiers and aviators," he said.
"My wife Jodi said to me earlier in my career 'our power at sea is derived from strength and support at home'. I believe that sentiment is true in every job in the defence force.
"We owe it to our veterans' families and loved ones to offer them that same support back, when they need us.
"Organisations like Legacy offers us an avenue to do this: Defence is proud to support Legacy Week and help raise funds for the partners and children of veterans who have given their life or health in service to our country.
"I hope you will join me in buying a badge or a bear this Legacy Week."
Volunteers will be selling badges and bears during Legacy Week in shopping centres, in the street and at other locations across Australia.
