A large sinkhole has appeared in a town centre, causing a main road to be closed. A diversion has been put in place in Newark after the hole appeared in Queen's Road on Tuesday, April 18.
A stretch of the road has been closed from the Lovers Lane roundabout to Northgate and is expected to remain closed for some time. Traffic in the area is being diverted whilst work continues on the sinkhole, and delays are likely.
Drivers should avoid the area if possible and allow additional time for their journeys. It is not yet known how large the sinkhole is or whose responsibility it falls under.
Via East Midlands has been on site since 9.30am and remain at the scene.
