Busy Edinburgh Post Office and newsagents in city neighbourhood goes up for sale

A busy Post Office and newsagents in a capital neighbourhood has been put on the market.

The outlet on Duart Crescent offers the opportunity for a budding shopkeeper to grow their own business within the Drumbrae community.

Drumbrae Newsagents has been newly posted for sale on the property listings website Rightbiz with a freehold cost of £140,000. The option to leasehold the property is £5,000 and the rent is advertised as £10,000.

The newsagent sells a selection of groceries, stationery, and confectionery - in addition to the Post Office function. The small business attracts local shoppers and is located in the heart of the community close to other retailers and amenities.

The listing reads: "Well performing and busy Post Office to let/ may sell. Ancillary sales from confectionery, vapes, stationery and small amount of grocery. Great scope for developing the retail side of the business or to operate a different kind of business alongside the post office."

It comes fully fitted and the operating costs of the business are said to be “low”. It currently employs one member of part-time staff and with “no rates payable”.

The shop is close to Drumbrae Community Allotment, Clermiston Childminding Services, Hoseason Gardens, several bus stops and J P’s Property Maintenance - which can be used as a general contractor.

Drumbrae is less than a 20-minute drive from the city centre with the Post Office serving much of the west of the city.

The branch is currently open 9am-5pm Monday to Friday and closed on weekends. More details can be found on the Rightbiz listing.
