It was a busy day in Colvend when a trio of community events were held organised and co-ordinated by Colvend and Southwick Community Council.
Celebrations began with the Spring Fling (Studio 60) event where Colvend Hall was transformed into an impressive art gallery for four days, for an exhibition featuring the work of local artist Philippa Sinclair.
Then there was the monthly Colvend Produce and Makers Market – held outside on this occasion due to the glorious weather.
Many stall holders stayed for much of the day to reap the benefits of the crowds attending the Colvend Family Gala.
The annual gala was held again on the Recreation Field, which was created by the community council in 2018.
The gala was very well attended, and featured the Dumfries Town Band, children’s sports, a bouncy castle, face painting, barbecue and many other stalls and attractions.
Highlight of the afternoon was the inter-village tug of war, which was won this year by the team from Rockcliffe, although when they were challenged by a team featuring all the children present, the children won!
Charity stalls supported the Dalbeattie Lions and the Solway Forests Red Squirrel Network.
The gala event was made possible through a generous grant from the Dumfries and Galloway Community Events Fund.
