Technology is radically transforming the job market, and advancements in AI are only speeding up the change. Ten percent of workers were hired for jobs last year that didn’t exist more than 20 years ago, according to a LinkedIn report from October. On the flip side, many people currently work in jobs that may not exist for much longer, soon to be replaced by a quicker and cheaper AI alternative.
That’s why “you protect the worker, you protect the talent; you don’t protect the job itself,” Peiying Chua, head economist for APAC at LinkedIn, said at the Fortune Brainstorm AI Singapore conference on Wednesday.
