Shocking footage has shown a bus completely destroyed after it went up in flames in Dundee.
The incident took place around 2.30pm today. Police and firefighters are in attendance at Strathern Road in Broughty Ferry.
A police cordon is in place with four streets closed off to traffic and pedestrians. Officers were seen in the area as flames engulfed the coach.
Two crews of firefighters were sent to deal with the blaze, and were still in attendance around 3.30pm, although the fire has been extinguished, a Scottish Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) spokesperson said.
It is understood the coach is a 73 service, operated by Stagecoach, which links Arbroath and Ninewells Hospital.
One nearby resident reported hearing a "bang". Another witness said passengers had managed to exit the bus safely before the fire took hold.
One man told the Record: "There were huge flames and plumes of smoke. The fire was really aggressive. I heard the sirens before that.
"Once it was out all you could see were the charred remains of the bus, it was pretty much destroyed."
A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: "We received a call around 2.30pm on Wednesday, June 21, to reports of a bus on fire in Broughty Ferry.
"Two appliances were sent. We are still in attendance but the fire has been extinguished. There are not thought to be any casualties."
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 2.30pm on Wednesday, June 21, 2023, police were called to reports of a vehicle fire on Strathern Road, Broughty Ferry.
"Emergency services are in attendance road closures are in place on Strathern Road, Crawford Place, Fairfield Road and at Ralston Road."
A spokesperson for Stagecoach East Scotland said: "We can confirm that one of our vehicles was involved in an incident this afternoon. There are no reported injuries, and all passengers were safely evacuated from the vehicle.
“Safety is our number one priority, and we are currently investigating the circumstances involved."
