Due to planned engineering works there will be no Metrolink service operating on parts of the Bury line between Saturday 13 and Friday 19 August.
As a result of these works, no services will operate between Bury and Whitefield from Saturday 13 to Tuesday 16 August. Then, from Wednesday 17 until the end of service on Friday 19 August, no services will operate between Bury and Queens Road. During the closure, a replacement bus service will operate to cover the affected stops.
The works are part of a planned essential maintenance programme which will see approximately 4,400 metres of worn tram tracks being replaced between the Bury and Radcliffe tram stops, in addition to the renewal of parts of the overhead line tensioning system.

Victoria Mercer, Metrolink Service Delivery Manager at Transport for Greater Manchester, said: “We’re very sorry for the inconvenience this closure of the Bury line will cause but will be doing everything we can to minimise disruption including running a like-for-like replacement bus service.
“The works will ensure that the Bury line continues to operate a safe and reliable service for years to come and we will take the opportunity during this service disruption to undertake additional works that will support future plans to operate additional trams on the Bury line.
“I’d encourage customers using the network to plan ahead and allow extra time when making their journey.”
Passengers will be able to visit a dedicated travel advice page to find information on alternative travel options to help plan their journey in advance. Metrolink staff will also be around at key locations, at busier times to help you to make your journey.
