Burst pipe causes water to flood on to Nottinghamshire village road

Footage shows the scale of a burst water pipe which has been causing water to gush on to a village road. Residents contacted Nottinghamshire Live to say the leak in Station Road, Keyworth, had been an issue for several days.

And on Friday morning (October 7), one eyewitness said: "It was really bad, apparently it's been like it for several days." The leak has been coned off with temporary fencing put up around it.

Severn Trent had said the burst was repaired on Thursday evening (October 6). They added the cones and fencing on the road to control traffic would remain in place with arrangements made to "infill the hole and reinstate the road surface".

However, water was still spilling over into the road on Friday morning. A Severn Trent spokesperson said: “We're pleased to say that burst on Station Road in Keyworth was repaired last night. We will now schedule a team to infill the hole and reinstate the road surface.

"For the safety of road users and our team, temporary traffic control will remain in place until the everything is back to normal. We apologise to anyone who may be inconvenienced while this work is completed.”

Nottinghamshire Live has contacted the water company to ask for clarity on why water continued to gush into the road on Friday morning. The leak has happened near the new Spinners Croft Miller Homes housing development.
