Burnley are eyeing up a move for Swansea City striker Michael Obafemi.
Our colleagues at LancshireLive claim the Clarets are eyeing up a possible move for the former Southampton star ahead of Thursday night's deadline, but claim the two clubs are still apart in their valuation.
The Swans are believed to be seeking over £10m for the 21-year-old, and the Clarets are so far unwilling to match that price tag.
WalesOnline understands the Irish striker has been attracting interest from across the Championship and abroad this summer, and it appears to be the Clarets who are taking the keenest interest in the striker.
Obafemi joined Swansea from Southampton for £1.5million last summer, and has racked up four caps for the Republic of Ireland.
Despite enduring a difficult start at Swansea, where he scored only once in his first 15 appearances for the club, the 22-year-old ran into form in the second half of the season.
Obafemi ended the campaign with 12 goals to his name in all competitions last season, and wrote himself into Swansea City folklore with a memorable brace against Cardiff City.
It's not the first time Burnley have taken an interest in members of Russell Martin's squad.
Vincent Kompany was also believed to be admirer of Joel Latibeaudiere, although interest in the defender has since cooled, particularly in light of a recent shoulder injury.
Losing Obafemi so close to the deadline would unquestionably be a blow to Martin, who is already having to cope with a rough start to the season that's yielded just one win in seven games in all competitions.
There's also been speculation over fellow forward Joel Piroe for much of the window, although at the time of writing there's not been a concrete approach from anyone at this stage.
